my Breakout Guardian installation often places new trades directly after a first and also after a second profit target. Is this expected?
Example of today is attached. The short hit profit target and then the strategy immediately submitted another short trade....that also hit the profit target and a third short trade was opened.
My BG had 3 entries and only 2 exits. So it left a naked position open. The first 2 hit profit target and I think it opened another 2 as a mistake. Any reason why this mightve happened?
So, coming back to this problem: The backtest for yesterday (11/03/25) shows two short entries (one win, one lose) and the second entry is 30 mins after the first exit. So, all in all the live results are not matching the backtest. This is a strategy bug.
Tom, really hope that you are reading the posts here...would be great if you could correct this bug.
attached you find my trade log. I have two examples of trades not matching the backtest: 11/03/25 - the backtest shows two short entries (one win, one lose). My trading log show three trades. After hit of the first take profit another trade was opened immediately and after the second trade hit take profit another trade was opened...I closed this manually.
11/05/25 - the backtest (and I think also your live trade...I think I saw it in the Zoom meeting today) shows a long with take profit. The live result here was a short with max loss. You can see the pictures above.
The ?strategy chart loaded 30 days of data.
Thank you very much for your help and great, very professional work!
I had another issue today where it opened a naked short RIGHT after closing a full profit trade. My ninjatrader also disconnected around the same time so I'm not sure what is going on there. When reloaded it doesn't show that the strategy took a 2nd trade. The constant disconnects in NT are quite frustrating. Not sure why I have a naked position though.
Hi Tom,I have a question regarding Breakout. The template should only make a trade 5 minutes after the market opens, right?
Well, I've noticed that the bot has opened trades just a few seconds or minutes later several times.
Yesterday, for example, a trade was opened just seconds after the market opened, and it was a loss. Two micros cost 600 bucks. But no trade is showing up in your statistics.
I have the same issue that Gerd reported. I use the latest version 1.0.9. Although Tom did again some bug fixing also this version does not match the backtest. Real trades yesterday...loss...backteset on the website...no trade. Very interesting that this happened because the strategy entered a trade although it had no active trading time.
Also the backtest in my NinjaTrader does not match the backtest results on the website...here is the loss, also in backtest: Image CaptionSo, overall for friday 11/14/25: Live trading - loss, entered earlier than the allowed trading time Backtest on my computer: loss, entered at the start of the allowed trading time Backtest on the website: no trade
Tom, hope you are reading this.
Best
Frank.
