Phoenix v2.3.0 is out today. This one's a meaningful upgrade to how the strategy protects profitable trades.

What's New: Two-Tier MFE Exit Management

The existing MFE Breakeven system is now Tier 1 of a two-tier architecture. The new Tier 2 adds an active trailing stop that ratchets upward as your MFE peak advances — so instead of a one-time floor that fires and freezes, the stop keeps locking in more profit the longer the trade runs in your favor.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 are independent. A fast-moving trade can arm both almost simultaneously. A slower trade may only trigger Tier 1. Either one alone is useful — both together give the most comprehensive protection.

Backtest Results (6-Year NQ, 2,641 Trades)

MetricMFE OffMFE On (Tier 1 + 2)Change
Net Profit$312,597$317,696+$5,099
Max Drawdown($24,384)($20,452)−16%
Win Rate69.78%69.90%+0.12%
Avg Winner$765.46$761.90−$3.56
Profit / Month$4,122$4,189+$67

The 16% drawdown reduction at a cost of only $3.56 per average winner is the headline. The trailing stop trims the worst giveback scenarios without meaningfully clipping normal winners.

Settings

Both features are disabled by default — upgrading changes nothing unless you turn them on. You'll find the new settings in the 04. MFE Breakeven group in your strategy parameters.

My live settings: Tier 2 Trigger 48pts, Trail 20%. Run a Strategy Analyzer backtest on your instrument before going live with any MFE settings.

Required Upgrade Step

This release adds new strategy parameters. Before loading v2.3.0 you must delete your existing Phoenix template files or NinjaTrader will throw a settings mismatch error on load:

  1. Close NinjaTrader completely
  2. Navigate to Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\Strategy\
  3. Delete all files beginning with Phoenix
  4. Restart NinjaTrader and import the new version normally

Your chart workspaces are not affected — only the saved parameter templates are cleared.
