Phoenix v1.2.3 Released

Hey everyone — Phoenix v1.2.3 is now available for download. This update rolls up three releases worth of improvements since v1.2.0, including new features, a critical compatibility fix, and under-the-hood hardening of the order management engine.

Here's what's new:

MFE Breakeven Protection (v1.2.1)

Phoenix can now automatically move your stop to breakeven after a trade reaches a minimum favorable excursion (MFE) and then gives back a configurable percentage. This is enabled by default.

For example, with the default settings: if a trade runs +40 points in your favor and then pulls back to +20 (giving back 50%), the stop moves to your entry price. You're now risk-free on that trade. If the trade never reaches the minimum threshold, the original stop stays in place.

Settings are under 04. MFE Breakeven in the strategy properties.

Daily Trade Limits (v1.2.1)

New controls to manage your daily risk exposure:

  • Max Trades Per Day — caps the number of entries per session (default: 10)
  • Stop After Winning Trade — locks out new entries after your first winner of the day
  • Daily Loss Limit — flattens and stops trading when cumulative daily loss reaches your threshold
  • Daily Profit Limit — same thing for profits, useful for prop firm accounts

Settings are under 05. Daily Limits in the strategy properties.

ATR-Based Exits (v1.2.1)

New optional exit mode that sizes profit targets, stop losses, and MFE breakeven arms as multiples of the daily ATR. This automatically adapts to changing volatility — wider stops on big-range days, tighter stops on quiet days.

ATR Mode is now the default. If you prefer fixed dollar amounts, disable "Use ATR-Based Exits" under 03b. ATR Mode and set your dollar values under 03. Trading.

FOMC & Holiday Filter (v1.2.1)

Phoenix can now automatically skip trading on FOMC announcement days and US federal holidays. These days historically underperform due to increased volatility and erratic price action. The exclusion dates are loaded from the Aeromir server at strategy startup, so they stay current without requiring updates.

Configurable under Date Filter in Trading settings: All (skip both), FOMC Only, Holiday Only, or None.

Template Compatibility Fix (v1.2.2)

Fixed a critical issue where upgrading from an earlier version could cause "Unable to create instance of NinjaScript 'Phoenix'" errors. This was caused by stale template files left over from previous versions.

If you experience this error after updating: delete any Phoenix files from Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\Strategy\ and restart NinjaTrader. v1.2.2+ includes automatic template migration and sanitization to prevent this going forward.

Order Processing Hardened (v1.2.3)

Four targeted fixes to the underlying order management engine:

  • Fixed a timing gap where protective stop and target orders could be silently skipped for one bar under certain conditions (particularly on sim accounts)
  • Added safety guards to prevent duplicate cancel requests on OCO orders
  • Improved price comparison precision to eliminate unnecessary order modifications
  • Replaced price rounding logic with a more deterministic approach

These fixes don't change trade signals or backtest results — they only improve reliability in edge cases during live and sim trading.

Trading Hours Validation (v1.2.3)

Phoenix now checks that your chart is using the correct US Equities RTH trading hours template. If a different session template is detected, you'll see a warning during backtesting and a popup dialog when running live. This matters because different session templates produce different bar sequences, which silently changes trade signals and makes your backtests unreliable.

Updated Defaults

Default exit values are optimized for MNQ: $65 profit target / $165 stop loss / $350 max daily loss. For NQ, use approximately $650 / $1,650 / $3,500 for equivalent point distances. The default is to use ATR Mode for profit targets and stops.

How to Update

  1. Download Phoenix v1.2.3 from your downloads page
  2. Remove the current Phoenix strategy from any charts
  3. Import the new file via Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On
  4. Re-add Phoenix to your chart and verify your settings

If you run into any issues, post here or open a support ticket. Happy trading!
